Below are examples of projects for which I've provided lyrics. When I was younger, I always dreamed of someday becoming an author, and writing lyrics really taps that part of my brain in a special way. I love collaborating with composers for songwriting projects and bringing their musical vision to life through words!
(To celebrate the 5th anniversary of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, I collaborated with composer Sterling Maffe and the Hexany Audio team to write lyrics for this haunting, magical tune. The lyrics are a celebration of the goddess of the moon, whose worshippers seek out her holy light).

Dawn of the Moon
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang A whisper in the woods In the hush of the night, And breaking through the clouds Is a face made of light. A jewel set in shadow And brighter than noon. We gaze upon the dawn of the moon. She's skipping through the trees With a smile pale as snow, On nimble silver feet Sets the forest aglow Laughing and twirling, The night is abloom Within the holy dawn of the moon. Guiding our path on the journey, Shining through midnight so deep. Spirit and muse, our dreams are suffused With blessings of hope as we sleep. Hearts that are lost and longing, Listen and hear her voice. Join in her song, Ah.... A whisper in the woods As our doubt she dispels, And to the dread of darkness Our hearts bid farewell. The way forth is certain, We'll find the end soon When walking by the dawn of the moon. |
(This song is the closing credits theme for this mysterious point-and-click adventure. The game addresses difficult subjects such as loss and addiction, and this song was intended to tell the story of the main character's struggles with overcoming his personal demons).

Walk Past the Storm
Arkhangel: The House of the Seven Stars I am here once again standing lonely At the door open to another night so cold and dark In my ears, I can hear one sound only Of the wind rattling the windows of my pounding, racing heart Take one step, then another, I'm going Each pace takes me away from comfort I had longed to hold But the wind found me there in its blowing So I bundled up my courage and set out upon the road And so I walk into the stinging wind And hunch my shoulders against the ice within I know my journey is anything but warm But still I walk til I walk past the storm Look back once, and my steps become a stumble-- “Not too late, I can turn back and give up this futile game.” But I know that desire soon will crumble For the road's a long black ribbon embroidered with my name And so I walk into the cutting wind Clench shut my eyes against the ice within I know my journey is anything but warm But still I walk til I walk past the storm Yes, still I walk til I walk past the storm And there I'll find I will find my home For as I roam In the distant gloaming there I see The land where morning lives Beyond my aching That day is breaking as I sing: “Take one step, then another Just one step, then another One more step, then another And I will find some summer there Take one step, then another Just one step, then another And I will find my summer...” So now I walk into the bitter wind Clench shut my eyes against the ice within I know my journey is anything but warm But still I walk til I walk past the storm And so I walk into the howling wind Lay bare my soul and all the faults within I know my journey's anything but warm But still I walk til I walk past the storm Yes, still I walk til I walk past the storm |
(This will be a familiar tune for Majora's Mask lovers! My piano arrangement features the melancholy ballad performed by Zora band The Indie-Gogos. While their lead vocalist Lulu never sings actual words, these are my imagined lyrics for this dark and mysterious tune about unexpected love.

I Never Thought
Shall We Play? Majora's Mask Piano Album I had not a care for your cunning smile, truth be told. My gaze wouldn't stray long in your eyes, they're too cold. There always was this something about you, The day we met you got under my skin... I wasn't impressed by how you would swagger passing by. I didn't obsess over your voice, soft and sly. So how could I know one day I'd caress your face, and I'd sigh? I never thought my heart could ache When you stand so near. Lost in that current you make, I'm drowning without any fear... How did it all start, this change of heart? I thought I was too smart to be fooled by you... They say you're a rogue, and soon you will leave me, this I know. Just one more heartbreak caught in your swift undertow. But here in your arms and sunk in those pools of dark indigo, I say: I never thought my heart could soar Trapped under the blue. I never thought I'd say I'm yours Til the day you say "no more!" I never thought I'd fall in love with you. |
