Video Games Live: Brazil Tour 2011 Reviews
MUITO OBRIGADA to all of the amazing VGL Brazilian fans! The VGL Brazil Tour 2011 couldn't have gone better and I am so incredibly happy to have been a part of the tour this year! It was great seeing old friends and making new ones at all of the shows, and performing brand new material! For those of you who missed the shows, VGL premiered my brand new Legend of Zelda arrangement in honor of the 25th anniversary of the franchise. It was my first time arranging for a full orchestra, I had been working on it all summer and it was received well at all of the performances! There are just no words for how ecstatic I am--I'll be posting a video of the piece in the Music section soon, as well as some great new pictures to my Photos. Below are some websites with great reviews, photos and videos from each show! THANK YOU AGAIN everyone for coming out and supporting VGL!! See you in 2012!

Brazilian friends, it's official: Video Games Live will be returning to Brazil for the sixth year in a row this October, and I've been invited to come along!! I am tremendously excited to be returning to the beautiful country of Brazil; it is a special place to me both because of the amazing, loud and joyous audiences we perform for, and also because the 2009 Brazil Tour is the first time I was given a chance to sing with VGL. I've never heard a louder audiences than the ones in Brazil and I can't wait to perform all new material for all of our friends there! Ticket info can be found at videogameslive.com. Laura Intravia Makes Film Score Debut! Original Music for This Is Art webseries
More amazing new experiences are popping up for me this summer! I've been invited to compose the music for a brand new webseries called This Is Art, the story of "the postgraduate adventures of a Broadway-or-bust diva and a kooky performance artist grasping at acceptance in the NYC art scene." The project is headed by the very talented Anne Richmond and Emily Floyd, who I had the great pleasure of meeting through the production of Alice Au Pays Des Merveilles a few months ago. It was an honor to hear their beautiful voices singing my music, and I'm so glad I'll be getting to write more for them. No official release date yet, but it will most likely be released later this year, November-December. Check out the official This Is Art website for more info and their blog to find updates on the production itself. Can't wait to get cracking on this project!! Posted 8/16/2011

And please continue to check out NGI each week for new podcasts! It's a great show PACKED with great music and interviews with enormously talented, famous composers and performers. I look forward to hearing their podcasts each week and you will too! :) Posted 8/16/2011
Upcoming Show! MISCAST: A Benefit for Beautiful Soup Theater Collective July 10th, 2011, NY
Happy Summer everyone! My apologies for the break since my last post--since returning home from VGL's fantastic show in Los Angeles two weeks ago, I've been buried in a huge transcription project, my biggest one yet: preparing a 55-minute-long score for a musical that will be featured at the Midtown International Theatre Festival this July! Now that I've gotten most of the score finished, I'm finally surfacing for air ;-)
The VGL show in Los Angeles couldn't have gone better! We were given a great review at LA Weekly It was an almost completely brand-new show, so I unfortunately wasn't able to perform the Flute Link sketch, but I had a total blast performing songs for the first time in Los Angeles! I also had the honor of meeting a ton of amazingly talented performers and composers--it was simply incredible to be sharing a stage with them and performing some of their music! It was a super fun show and I was just so honored to be a part of it. Can't wait for next year!
This summer is going to be a busy one--lots of projects lined up, including a big, personal project that I will hopefully get to post on Youtube sometime in September ;-) For now, I'm excited to announce that I will be performing on one of my own pieces in the MISCAST benefit on July 10th! The proceeds will support the Beautiful Soup Theater Collective, the same group that commissioned my original compositions for their performance of Alice. The benefit features performances of songs by performers that would never be cast to sing them on Broadway, because of gender, age, etc. The song I am performing on is a duet taken from The Arrested Cantata, a song cycle I composed for mezzo-soprano Mallory Berlin in 2009 featuring the characters of the cult hitArrested Development, one of our favorite TV shows! For those you familiar with the series, Mallory and I will be performing as George-Michael and Maeby, respectively. The show is July 10th at 7:30pm, at the TAI Group in NYC; tickets can be purchased at the door or reserved by emailing beautifulsouptheater@gmail.com. Check out Beautiful Soup's Facebook for more info. Hope to see you all there for a funny night of musical theater! Posted 6/27/2011

Another dream of mine has been realized!! I will be composing original music for the Alice in Wonderland adaptation Alice Au Pays Des Merveilles, produced by the Beautiful Soup Theater Collective. The show runs June 1st-5th at the SoHo Playhouse in New York. The music is a mix of preexisting songs and my own original pieces written for the show. The proceeds from ticket sales of Beautiful Soup productions go completely to charitable organizations--AND, there's a chance that SoHo Playhouse may pick up the show for a permanent run this summer! Come out and enjoy a night at the theater and donate to a good cause, you won't regret it! Buy tickets here.
Upcoming Show! VGL: Canadian Video Games Award May 18th, 2011
I'm very excited to announce that I will be performing with Video Games Live for the Canadian Video Game Awards on May 18th! Fresh off of VGL's huge 16-show Canada tour, we'll be heading back to Vancouver in a few weeks to perform a short concert of VGL segments, to accompany the award ceremony to honor the Canadian video game industry.
And the huge tour was certainly some huge fun! It was, in a word, AMAZING. We had unbelievably fantastic crowds and the shows themselves turned out wonderful--it was an honor and a pleasure to be sharing the stage with Martin Leung for the first time, and even get to play a short duet with him in Winnipeg! I also got to do some sightseeing: checked out Stanley Park in Vancouver, shop in Montreal, and all in all have a completely awesome time touring with the VGL crew. Laura Intravia Makes Video Game Soundtrack Debut! Featured Soloist in Konami's Otomedius Excellent (XBOX 360)
BIG NEWS!!!! One of my lifelong dreams has officially come true: I've made my debut as a performer on a video game soundtrack! I will appear as a featured solo flutist in the soundtrack of the Konami side-scrolling shooter Otomedius Excellent, which will be released in Japan on April 21st, 2011 for XBOX 360. The game will be released in the United States later this year, with the soundtrack available as an additional downloadable pack through XBOX Live Arcade.
Otomedius Excellent is the latest installment in the Otomedius series, and the first game of this franchise to be released in the United States! With Metal Gear Solid composer Norihiko Hibino at the helm as lead composer, the soundtrack of this game is an international collaboration of artists all over the world from the U.S. to China to Japan. Hibino-san and I became good friends through Video Games Live, and was such a tremendous honor to get to perform for one of his projects. The track I will appear on was composed by none other Castlevania’s Michiru Yamane! American composer Justin Lassen was also involved in the soundtrack, and includes a list of all the composers for this game on his website, plus the trailer and some gameplay footage.
A big thank you to Hibino-san for inviting me to be part of such a cool project and action-packed soundtrack! Hope everyone gets the chance to check out Otomedius Excellent when it comes to the States later this year; stay tuned for an official release date! :-) Posted 3/22/2011

Video Game Music Blog, Now Up and Running
I have added a Blog for my personal discoveries/thoughts about my video game transcriptions! I like to write a little each week about the compositional elements of video game music; instead of posting those writings to this homepage, I have moved them to the Blog page, where I am going to start writing more in-depth articles about what I notice about the construction of the music, from a classical point of view. I learned a lot about composing from transcribing music when I was a kid, so if you're looking to delve into the basics of composition, please feel free to check out the Blog! I'd love to hear your thoughts/questions about video game music. Also feel free to drop me a line on the Contact page with requests or suggestions of music to transcribe/arrange! Posted 7/14/2010
Ithaca College - PBS News Article
Ithaca College School of Music has posted an article about the PBS special! It's a great honor for me to be recognized by my college, especially when I only graduated a year ago--it was a fantastic school and I miss it a great deal. Our LA show at the Nokia Theater last Thursday was a hit!! I think it was one of my favorite shows so far--we had a huge concert line-up of special guest performers, composers and conductors. I had the incredible honor of singing the "God of War" segment under the baton of composer Gerard Marino, a totally amazing experience! Our Chrono Trigger/Cross segment was the most epic it's ever been, with myself, Norihiko Hibino, Akira Yamaoka, Martin Leung, Gerard Marino and of course Tommy lending their instruments to the big "Scars of Time" finale. And to top it all off, the audience was totally fantastic! Great energy (probably aided by the big Lakers game, which was happening at the same time just down the street) and the LONGEST Meet and Greet we have done to date, twenty guests and three and a half hours long. I also got to hit up E3 for the first time in my life, which was totally AWESOME. Check out my Facebook sometime this week for pictures of the amazing event.
All in all, it was an awesome first time in LA and I can't wait to go back again! As usual, I'll post more reviews as I find them!
The VGL shows in Dallas this weekend went great! Beautiful hall, awesome orchestra, great crowds!! I had a real blast singing and playing for several different segments. I also met some awesome people in the meet in greet line and took pictures of some awesome video game shirts, which I will soon be posting to my Facebook (friend me or join my fanpage!) Check out Youtube for a few videos of the concert; the hall was pretty anti-cameras, so there unfortunately isn't too much footage. Anywho, I'll post more reviews as I find 'em! ;-)
